Pmine Research: Rust Systems Software & Applied Research

Pmine Research is the applied Rust research group of Field of Dream Studio (FDS). We build practical systems software, from safe dynamic plugin systems to memory-safe Rust architecture, and turn that work into applied academic output through publications, patents, and research activity.

Suyu Jiang

Chief Executive Officer

Application oriented researcher and Rust systems engineer with a computer engineering background, and a manager of FDS. Focuses on the application of fundamental theory through new architecture designs: high-performance async systems, multi-protocol web frameworks, robotics simulation, domain-specific languages, and adaptive learning technology, building type-safe, extensible architectures, leading research-oriented projects, and mentoring student teams. Holds a BEng in Computer Science from Hubei University of Arts and Science and is reading for an MSc in Information Technology Management at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Engineering Metadata Placement over MQTT 5 for Multi-Robot Fleet Coordination

Xiang Tianyun Dylan, Lu Zheng Xuan, Lu Kai Wai, Santos Alexa Ryann Jia Xuan Poh, Suyu Jiang, Aquil Mirza Mohammed

International Conference RADIOELEKTRONIKA 2026

MQTT-based robot fleets need metadata for routing, tracing, schema evolution, request-response correlation, and tenancy, yet inconsistent placement can defeat broker filtering or expose sensitive fields. This paper consolidates a standards-compliant placement rule: routing and authorization fields go in the topic; observability and processing hints use MQTT 5 properties; schema-bound or sensitive fields stay in a versioned payload. The contribution is an engineering guideline and reproducible evaluation, not a new protocol. We state the OASIS User Property encoding rule as a design-aid formula and check implementation conformance at packet level, including both MQTT Variable Byte Integer length fields. A Rust testbed compares zero and 16 User Properties over Mosquitto, EMQX, and HiveMQ for two payload sizes and QoS 0/1. A separate four-carrier baseline quantifies wire bytes, broker-side filtering, ACL enforcement, and latency; controlled broker-egress impairment probes adverse conditions without claiming a physical multi-host result. Direct permutation tests, effect sizes, and bootstrap intervals replace inference from overlapping confidence intervals. All 95,658 captured PUBLISH protocol data units matched the intended property count and both length ledgers. Three of 12 header strata and one of six carrier strata rejected after Holm correction, ruling out a universal latency-neutrality claim while supporting the placement rule through broker visibility and ACL results on the measured single-host Docker path.

About Pmine Research

Pmine Research is the applied research group of Field of Dream Studio (FDS). We focus on Rust systems software and applied academic research: building safe, high-performance systems and turning that engineering into conference papers, patents, and workshops.

The group's work spans Rust systems programming, safe dynamic plugin systems, adaptive learning and testing platforms, and clinical AI, including memory-safe real-time ECG alerting. Pmine Research (FDS/PMINE) is the research group and is distinct from the PMINE toolkit; this site covers the group's software, publications, and research activity.
